Kane tops TSN Trade Bait board, Lehner also listed
As has been the case for much of this season, Evander Kane is at the top of the list when it comes to players on the trading block.
TSN has released a “trade bait” list, and Kane is the first player mentioned.
Another interesting Sabre on the list: Robin Lehner. Chris Ostrander mentioned this in his article this morning, but Lehner’s name has started to be heard more in the trade market. I agree with Chris 100% that dealing him is a good idea. It would make a lot of sense to get Linus Ullmark some starts as this horrific season winds down, and Lehner is not considered by many to be the long-term answer in goal for the Sabres.
As far as Kane goes, if Jason Botterill can get what he seeks — per Pierre LeBrun, a first-rounder, prospect and conditional pick — then he should do it sooner rather than later. One can argue that Botterill should be talking to the Kane camp about an extension instead, but it’s starting to look like that ship has sailed and the Sabres are ready to move on from the talented winger.
Per TSN’s Frank Seravalli:
The Buffalo Sabres have been working to move left winger Evander Kane for weeks, long before frustrations boiled over in practice Wednesday.
